Matts’ interest in music began as a young boy.  He began taking note of his older bothers influences and eclectic musical taste.  When Matt received a second hand guitar for his 16th birthday he became engulfed in motivation to learn how to play it.  With Pink Floyd’s latest release The Division Bell in 1994, Matts influence of David Gilmour help to form the sound, feel, and approach that he still holds true today.  This genre of music opened his eyes to many more musicians, groups, like the Flaming Lips, Talking Heads, Ween, and Radiohead.  All these styles of music dancing in his head helped him discover sonic mood and flow which helped to create his own character of composing.  With these tools in hand Matt began to write his own compositions which include several songs that 11th house, plays today.

While attending John Tyler Communtiy College, Matt formed a band with high school friends called, Big Fat Groove Factory.  They played gigs in the Richmond area from 1997 until BFGF disbanded in 1999.  Matt received his Music Recording Certificate at J. Sergeant Reynolds Community College May of 2002.  These classes helped to understand his passion at a “hands on” and more technical level.  During recording session classes, he met Robin and Hart.  After their fortunate meeting, the new lineup of 11th Houses’ infancy began.

Matt was the working onstage sound man for 11th House but has happily handed off the torch.  He still uses his engineering skills to provide live sound reinforcement, mastering, and recording for regional bands as well as working for and with local studios in Richmond.  He is a vegetarian, a beer fanatic and being a hopeless romantic, enjoys long walks on the beach.
